In the Computer Science & Technology Academy students will explore the relationships and differences between computer science, coding, app development, and software engineering.

This pre-college summer program gives students the opportunity to explore within our collaborative community by getting direct instruction from industry-expert faculty and participating in hands-on projects that help them understand which of these fields would be the best fit for their career interests. This academy is open to students of all genders.

This program is designed for:

  • Students entering grades 10–12 and recent high school graduates
  • Students who are interested in working in technology
  • Students who want to understand the differences between app development, computer science, software engineering, and coding

Get a Jump Start on College Education

In the Computer Science & Technology Academy, students will:

  • Learn the differences between app development, computer science, software engineering and coding
  • Study the technologies and programs that go into creating and running different computer-based technologies
  • Discover which of these fields is their true area of interest before applying to colleges
  • Learn new skills and work collaboratively with other students who are also passionate about computer science and technology

During this pre-college summer program, students work closely with Champlain College professors who teach our Computer Science & Innovation and App Development courses. These professors have extensive expertise and professional connections in the computer science and technology fields.

Program attendees will have a lot in common with their fellow students. By working together in the classroom, living together in the residence halls, and enjoying extracurricular activities, students form friendships that last far beyond the length of the Academy.

Example of a Daily Schedule

The daily program will include morning and afternoon instruction, and a combination of instruction and recreational activities in the evenings. We’ll work right through the weekend to take full advantage of the time we have together!
